22 Jul Lake Shake Country Music Experience
July 20 & 21, 2015
I can’t even describe how eventful and how crazy my weekend was. I got a once in a lifetime opportunity that not many people my age get to do.
Over the weekend, I got a chance to be part of the media crew for this new festival here held in Chicago called, Lake Shake Country Music Festival. It’s a 3 day festival filled with huge artists like Florida Georgia Line to upcoming new artists like Kelsea Ballerini.
We got a chance to interview Brian O’Connell, the President/Country touring of Live Nation, who was such an easy and cool guy to talk to. He’s one of the reasons why my team and I got this huge opportunity.
We were the youngest ones out of all the media managements. It was pretty intimidating at first, but I like how those that approached, told us how a huge opportunity this whole thing was. This is something that we want to get into some day in the future, which will help for our future career paths.
Considering that we are part of the media crew, there were perks that came along with it. We get to go inside this exclusive media tent where all the press interviews happen. There were free snacks/drinks. We got to see the artists like Thomas Rhett in a few feet from us get interviewed. I also got chosen to film/take pictures of the performers in the PIT. The PIT meaning literally next to the stage–the space between the fans and the stage lies. I’m no professional photographer nor have a professional camera, but getting to do this was definitely so surreal. I can’t even process how I even got a chance to do this.
We interviewed very interesting patrons. We got drenched by the pouring rain in the middle of the city. We got free sketchy uber rides. We got to go backstage where the artists chill (for just a minutes for an interview). We got to see Thomas Rhett, Randy Houser, Florida Georgia Line, and more live. I was literally at least 2 ft away from some of the musicians. I also got to meet and see Kelsea Ballerini, whom I’m such a huge fan of.

Coming to the festival, I have no idea what to expect besides knowing who the artists are.The whole festival was such a great turn out, specially for its first time. It was a 3 day festival and being able to attend the last 2 days was definitely something I’ll never forget.
